If you didn't swear me off for casting Lopez...

...then this will definitely do it.

I rather liked "Scooby Doo."

Since I have a kid, I've seen it twice already (screenings within hours
of one another, no less). Matthew Lillard deserves an Oscar for that
Shaggy performance. Linda Cardellini (sp?) couldn't have sounded/
looked more like Velma. Even FPJ couldn't sink the picture (SMG, on
the other hand, gave the same performance I've seen her give in the
three episodes of "Buffy" I've ever watched, the "Sex in the City"
episode she popped up in, the teen horror/comedy flicks I've peeped
her in, and her SNL appearance; there were probably better Daphnes
out there, and based on the two kid-packed audiences I saw it with,
nobody was there for anything but the digi-Doo, so they could've
saved some coin on whatever they had to dish out to get her into the
picture). It's a cute flick, that adheres as closely to the cartoons as
they probably could while still making it tolerable for those over ten
years old. I went into the first screening, cock-sure that I was in for
ninety minutes of torture, but was really pleasantly surprised. Should
have expected as much, as Raja Gosnell (sp?) also helmed "Mystery
Men" - a movie that's so insanely watchable, it's always on top of the
DVD player in the bedroom.

Switching gears, I've seen some curiosity about the future of this
place now that Movie Poop Shoot is launching. Rest assured,
nothing's going to happen to our board. Poop Shoot is going to be a
fun read every day, but this place will always be home. Think of Poop
Shoot as a non-Kev-oriented News Askew; and News Askew didn't
compromise the board, so why should Poop Shoot?

Saw the box art for the "Silent Bob Speaks: An Evening With Kevin
Smith" DVD. Pretty sweet. It's looking like late Jan/early Feb for
release.

Anyone else see that "Road to Perdition" trailer. They might as well
call it "Road to My Fucking Wallet" - because is the movie's half as
good as the trailer, I'm gonna see the fuck out of that movie. Paul
Newman rules; an evil Paul Newman rules even harder.

Going to the "Lilo and Stitch" premiere tomorrow (again - the kid).
They closed down Hollywood Blvd. between Highland and Orange for
it. Heavens.

The IFC asked me to take over the "Escape From Hollywood" hosting
duties from the late Ted Demme. It's essentially me introducing and
cracking wise about a bunch of better movies than mine. I tape the
first round of intros at the start of July, but I don't know when they'll
start airing. I'll keep you posted, though.

On Leno the 25th to promote "Spider-Man/Black Cat". The Dodsons
deserve all the praise for this book. It's gorgeous. Pick it up on the
26th (or over-pay for it by ordering your signed copy now, at Jay and
Silent Bob's Secret Stash Online!).

Heading to Seattle on Monday and Tuesday for the next "Roadside"
Leno gig. If you live in the Emerald City, keep your eyes peeled for a
slightly-less-overweight guy in a sleeveless, hooded sweatshirt.

That's about it for now. Remember: Monday is Poop-erific. Stop by
the Shoot to see what we do with our spare time around these parts.

And for the curious...

Yes - Jennifer Lopez is still in "Jersey Girl."
