Men in Black II [in theatres July 3, 2002]
Director: Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black)
Starring: Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Rip Torn, others
The sequel to the 1997 mega-hit Men in Black, this time Agent J (Oscar nominee Smith) has to recruit the former Agent K (Jones) in order to stop aliens from destroying the world and stuff.
Trailer: In theatres now attached to Spider-Man
Cool Factor: High. If it's half as good as the trailer... *drools*

Road to Perdition [in theatres July 12, 2002]
Director: Sam Mendes (Oscar winner for his last film, American Beauty)
Starring: Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, Jude Law
Based on the graphic novel, the movie follows Michael Sullivan (Hanks), father, family man...and Mob hitman. But, the shit hits the fan when his youngest son finds out about his profession, and the rest of their family is killed in a failed hit. So, Sullivan sets out to right previous wrongs and try to stray his son from...the Road to Perdition.
Trailer: In theatres now attached to Insomnia & The Sum of All Fears
Perdition is "Hell", by the way.
Cool Factor: High. Could be the sleeper hit of the year, since Hanks hasn't made a bad film since...uh...*cough*Castaway*cough*...I forget.

Daredevil [in theatres February 14, 2003]
Director: Mark Steven Johnson (Simon Birch)
Starring: Ben Affleck, Michael Clarke Duncan, Jennifer Garner, Jon Favreau, Colin Farrell
A youngster is blinded saving a man's life...but he gains fantastical powers and fights crime as Daredevil, The Man Without Fear! This time, in the origin story of the hero, he faces Kingpin, Bullseye and Elektra!
Trailer: In theatres June 21st attached to Minority Report.
Cool Factor: Well, it's gotten good buzz...but we'll know more once the trailer's out.

X-Men 2 [in theatres May 4, 2003] (X2 is a promotional tool, ala MI-2)
Director: Bryan Singer (X-Men, The Usual Suspects)
Starring: Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, James Marsden, Alan Cumming...many others.
Another adventure of the amazing X-Men, normal-looking humans (well, most of them...) with extraordinary mutant powers.
Trailer: TBA
Cool Factor: Well, X-Men was cool...so, this should be as cool or slightly less cool.

The Hulk [in theatres June 20, 2003]
Director: Ang Lee (Oscar winner for Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon)
Starring: Eric Bana, Jennifer Connelly, Sam Elliott
Dr. Bruce Banner is exposed to experimental gamma radiation, which causes him to mutate when angered into the INCREDIBLE HULK, a giant rampaging monster... Stuff happens, too.
Trailer: In theatres now attached to Undercover Brother and About A Boy, among others. Some prints of Spider-Man has it, too.
Cool Factor: It's the HULK, man! How can it NOT be cool? Lou Ferrigno. But he's not playing the Hulk...so aces!

Spider-Man II [in theatres May 7, 2004]
Director: Sam Raimi
Starring: Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst
In another adventure of the amazing Spider-Man, set a while after the first movie, Spidey faces The Lizard and Doctor Octopus while trying to romance and un-pants the seductive Black Cat. But is she friend...or foe?
Sounds cool, don't it?

Ghost Rider [in development]

Starring: Nicolas Cage
The Spirit of Vengeance gets his own movie! This'll be the Johnny Blaze origin story from the old 1970s comics...but no director or script is done yet.

Blade III [in development]
Director: TBA [although Guilliermo Del Toro is interested]
Starring: Wesley Snipes, Kris Khristopherson
The third and final act in the Blade trilogy sees a world where the vampires have taken over! Sounds cool.

Batman: Year One [in development]
Director: Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream)
Starring: TBA
The origin story of Batman, as 25-year old Bruce Wayne returns to Gotham City and begins his quest to rid the city of crime! Frank Miller's co-writing it.

Superman [in development]
Director: McG (Charlie's Angels)
Starring: TBA
Possibly following the Death to Superman storyline...this one's stuck in neutral.

The League of Extra-Ordinary Gentlemen [in development]
Director: Stephen Norrington (Blade)
Starring: Sean Connery, Shane West, Jason Flemyng, Stuart Townsend
Based on the comic by Alan Moore!

Constantine [in development]
Director: TBA (the previous one left the project, and there's lawsuits and stuff...)
Starring: Nicolas Cage
An on-screen version of Hellblazer has been ALMOST MADE, but it's stuck in lawsuit hell...for now.

Preacher [in development]
Director: Richard Talalay (Tank Girl)
Starring: James Marsden
Yep, they're making Preacher, the guy who can make anybody do what he says. Coolsauce!

The Punisher [in development]
Director: Jonathan Hensleigh (Die Hard With A Vengeance)
No stars yet, but it's the Punisher! With a good director!

The Hulk 2 [in development: target is May 2005]
The sequel to the Hulk, presumably starring Eric Bana and Jennifer Connelly, who both have sequels in their contracts.

Spinoff from Daredevil, starring Jennifer Garner as the scantily-clad assassin.
