CLERKS was shot in 16mm, which has the same aspect ratio as your TV screen. There's no panning and scanning at all.

: When you see a movie full screen on your television the Aspect Ratio has been changed to fit your screen, where the film is actually pans from left to right depending on where the action takes place. It is called pan & scan, you are actually being robbed of more of the frame than in wide screen where you are just losing screen. TV's should have been made in the same aspect ratio as film.
