: According to a friend of mine, a article he read stated that Corporations are trying to jack up the price of DVD's like they do to videos now adays.
Look at how music CDs are priced. It costs maybe $2 max to burn and package a CD, yet the prices have gone up to about $17 average retail. I know some of that is ad cost, etc. But $17? That's what happens when a type of media becomes the dominant standard, less and less customers buying tapes and LPs means less competition between formats, so you can charge more for CDs.

The price of DVDs has lowered a bit from the original price as the format becomes popular and widely accepted. Laserdiscs are old hat, DIVX is dead, and once DVDs start to out-sell VHS tapes, look for the prices to start rising again.

Supply and demand.

Oh well,
Beav
