.. it is illegal, in every sense of copyright law, to own a copyrighted song if you do not own an original copy of the material yourself. This is why it's totally legal to make CD's of your favorite songs from your own CD's.
The only exception is if the copyright holder releases it into the public domain, and that is not the case with this song.
