The way things worked out for Al was, indeed, great. I just think that sudden cancellations like this are a complete clusterfuck. Series creators usually have a story arc planned out right down to the end of their original contract length, if not longer. When they're cancelled before that, they have to scramble to tie up loose ends they'd planned on working out over the course of a longer period of time.
I think Quantum Leap got screwed.
I'm not saying I didn't like the episode; I'm saying I didn't like that they got screwed out of ending the story the way they wanted to.
