His take is "they're just two different ways of making sense out of existence for different people with different likes and aptitudes... pick one and run with it".

In his mind, trying to figure out where science and religion meet is like... figuring out where an apple and an orange meet. They don't they don't have to, they're both food... eat one, eat the other, eat both... but they don't have to "fit together"... they're just two different ways to order your world, two different foods in your belly.
