I can see your point too, but as a teenager myself I grow tired of seeing teens portrayed as out of control. I can see why parents would be interested in this movie, as well as teen girls, but it just doesn't look like my kind of thing.
I've never done drugs or anything like that, and I can honestly say I don't know many people who do (but that may be because of the crowd I hang out with), so I am always uncomfortable to see all teens as drug craving lunatics in movies.
But I think the big thing for me is my locale. I live in a city of about 200,000 in Canada, so I am sure it is much different in New York, so maybe it is just a problem of me not being able to relate to the habitat these kids are in.
P.S. When I said I have no compassion for people who do things to themselves I meant if someone does drugs under their own free will and destroys their lives they shouldn't look to me for sympathy.
