: Not everyone from NYC is rude....I always say my pleases and thank you's. Also, excuse me's when I'm walking around people.

As do I. I didn't say EVERYONE was rude, I'm just saying that people are more often rude to me in NYC than in NJ.

: What I will give to the out-of-towners though is that sometimes, they do not walk fast enough. Or are afraid to walk over the sidewalk grates. I swear, unless you are wearing high heels, those things are perfectly safe. Not gonna cave in!

GOD, they clog up the streets, don't they? All you want to do is get from point A to point B as quickly as possible, and it seems like every tourist moron in the world is walking at the speed of mighty Thor (sarcasm) right in front of you. And when you try to weave your way through them, they give you this look like you've stepped on their dog. It's like, hey! Shithead! Not a tourist; I've seen Times Square before. I do not feel the overwhelming desire to stop dead and watch the various cycles the big Coca-Cola billboard goes through. If you do, please get the fuck out of the way of the people who do this every day.
And the grates? They don't matter a bit to me, but you're right; I've seen people swerve around them like they're afraid they're going to be swallowed. Personally, I'd be more afraid of what might hit me from above (crumbling masonry, pigeon shit, construction debris) than of falling through the ground beneath me.
