And TONS of people think Ritual is their best work. Not me, because I agree with you that Nothing's Shocking is their best by far.
But I can understand why people would think Strays is a little too un-Jane's, simply becuase it sounds crafted simply for arena rock. Like, there're no really "dangerous" songs or content like both Shocking and Ritual had, ya know? It's pretty much cookie-cutter rock compared to what they were doing a dozen years ago.
Personally, I think half of it is Navarro. He's nowehere NEAR the atonal, tons of effects guitar daredevil he used to be. To me, his style just doesn't sound as "Jane's Addiction" as it used to be.
But those chumps in the Chili Peppers will do that to you, I guess.
