this is just the anal-retentive Engineer in me saying this, but just for clarification... The Metatron was a seraphim (the highest choir of angels), not an archangel (the second-lowest choir of angels)... and as such, there was never a specific mention of him as a character in the bible, although, as the movie explains it, he is the manifestation of God seen talking to people in the bible...
