Just to clarify -- I never harbored any ill will towards any reasonable, intelligent person who participated in that mess. It DID rather upset my sense of righteousness that many of the long-term intelligent posters made fag jokes and such in the wake of GLAAD's complaint. It just wasn't called for, and while a lot of those comments were clearly satiric, there were plenty of dumb-asses who were just proving the point that a lot of Kevin's fans DON'T get the difference.
I didn't care for GLAAD's tactics at all, as I usually don't whenever they start throwing their weight around -- but I thought they had a valid point about J&SBSB. The gay jokes aren't necessary to the plot, they're for the most part corny, and the point that made it all make sense -- the Banky/Hooper exchange at the end -- was too downplayed. A lot of people didn't catch it. Ultimately, I thought the whole gag detracted from the movie.
I can't blame you or anybody for reacting as you did, in defense of someone you admire. It did bother me that I was the only person who ever felt, prior to this whole incident, that the gay jokes just weren't cool. It's something that had been on my mind already. It's like the "fag" thing in the Clerks cartoon -- the people who know what fag means aren't gonna think it's that funny, and those who don't know aren't going to understand.

: Ok, I shouldn't be making the joke, because I know I was one of the guilty parties in the initial surge. I never complained about sinful fags in general, though. I wish them all joyous lives sinfully fagging away.
