People were a bit suspicious before, but I opened my mouth a little wider that day, and it seemed to clear the air a little. Suddenly I got invited to a couple of weddings, got asked out socially more. It helped things move to a more intimate level.
I'm a little too inclined to speak my mind at times and I guess before that day, the impression was that I was not gay-friendly.
