Roeper is a jerk off....plain and simple....
Ebert gave a great review of Jersey Girl, very honset and warm and true. He admitted that the story is predictable, just as Kevin and everyone else has, HOWEVER what makes this film is what leads up to it....the acting, the characters, the dialogue, and the love that surrounds this story....Roeper doesn't understand it at all
Roeper said that he hasn't grown visually, despite the fact that Vilmos shot an incredibly beautiful flick (I saw it at the Paulsboro screening), so that was an unfair remark. He said Raquel wasn't any good, which dude, this guy has to be a retard....no wait, he is a retard. And he said that Kevin should stop directing and only write....dude, the director gets these great performances out of the actors, and Affleck, Tyler, and Carlin have NEVER been better and gave performances that were unimaginable with them...
It's such a shame....the late great Gene Siskel must be rolling around in his grave. Ebert is honestly such a respectable man, whether I agree with him all the time or not, I will always respect his opinion. Roeper can go to hell for all I care
