: Don't you think "any moron" is a little extreme? I'm in my third year now and it is unreal how many new students are put on academic probation or even kicked out because they just can't cut it. That's realistic.

No, I don't think it's extreme. Those students on academic probation don't even try, or they have an undiagnosed learning disorder. Or maybe it's because they stay up all night drinking, smoking weed and/or other activities that make it hard to remember that there is an assignment due.

: Anyone who tells you college is easy probably went to a "party-school," skimmed by with C's and B's, and didn't retain any information. I don't want to go flagging around my exact GPA but I can say I worked my ass off to keep it where it is.

Party school? Let me guess, you're at some ivy league deal, so you think you're better than everyone else. And I don't really give a damn what your GPA is compared to mine. It is possible for someone to be book smart and still be a fucking mess of a person that employers would never hire.

: I feel sorry for anybody who walks into their chosen career saying "well, I'll learn everything I need to know right here!" In the real world employers want you because you already know your shit and they don't have to baby-feed you.

*sigh* I said that a degree gives you a basic understanding and the rest, the majority, is on the job training.

: If you go to college just to go to college so you can put "degree" on your resume, then that's all you're going to get. If you go to college and actually learn and APPLY new knowledge, you'll walk away a totally new person.

OK, dude, whatever you need to believe so you can sleep at night.

: "But I guess one could do that with theirself as well"

: Theirself? Riiight.

Oh, my bad, ya fuckin grammar nazi. This isn't the Frasier web board. I write like I talk in everyday life. This isn't a test or a job interview. This is a fucking message board! Get over yourself.

: James

Well, James, what's wrong with you that you can't tolerate my opinion about a college degree. After all, I have one. And I have a job. I believe that qualifies me to give my opinion to someone who asks for it. So, you can take your post and shove it directly up your ass.
