Not so far as I've been able to tell, no. The internet isn't the geeky place it used to be.
I've been on it for a while, though, so I personally am overweight, pale, and nerdy.
Though the pale part is as much because I'm a night person as anything else.

I have no idea.

No, so... no.

Depends on the person. Some of them are genuine friends, some of them aren't. And even some of the genuine friends, because they don't really know you as a person, fade away after a while.

Specifically? No, I don't remember you that well. But I missed this place.

Sorry, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I just suck at remembering people, internet or real-time. I DO remember your name, I just don't remember YOU. I can probably count on one hand plus a few more fingers the number of people here I really, truly remember.

Bad internet friend sitch, eh? Yeah, I've had some of those. Lost some people I'd have considered friends over it, too. And it was so exceptionally STUPID; it was on a message board/chat board, and someone came along pretending to be the person the board was about. And so many people fucking FELL for it! Everyone got all turned around, and mad at each other... it got really nasty. And the faux-celeb ended up stalking someone I'd have considered a true friend (she schlepped all the way out to NJ from Oregon to hang with me on more than one occasion... my only real problem with her was that she truly believed this guy was who he was pretending to be. And she was adult! Like, late 30's, early 40's, adult! How could you fall for that shit?!), and she ended up pretty much cutting all ties to any of us.
*sigh*
