My only thought on this is: I hope that at if Jen and Ben are together or are not together or whatever that situation may be at the time, the press backs the hell off it long enough to let Jersey Girl come out and be unscathed by the media hype up of another Jen and Ben flick. I don't think that billing is going to help the movie along (or accurate).
I saw Gigli. I didn't love it, I didn't hate it. There was just something missing.
I can't wait to see Jersey Girl. I am a huge Kevin Smith fan, and I love George Carlin. I don't want to see the media kill this movie before it even gets released because of Jen and Ben's previous movie debacle, or because of their real life relationship.
I feel sorry for them both (I bet I catch some hell for that statement, but it is true). I wouldn't want my every transgression aired out for the entire world to see. People have it bad for these two, the media, fans, tabloids. It would seriously suck not to be able to have any private time, then add to that a bad movie, terrible reviews, being scrutinized over personal and professional choices, and trying to plan a wedding. DAMN. That is too much for anyone to handle. I know, that is why they make the big bucks and get on the big screen, but really where is that line… how much is the public really entitled to.
If the rumors are true and they are no longer together, I hope that it is because of a mutual decision based on their feelings, not because there was too much stress and politics around them because of who they are. But hey, my perfect world doesn’t really exist.
So instead, I am just going to hope for the best possible outcome for Jersey Girl. I’ll do my part, I will be there opening day.
