Let's not forget Orson Welles appeared in Transformers: The Movie and whisky commercials, but I don't think anyone here denies he was a genius.
It's just sad that people like him and Jan De Bont have one great film in them and then peter out (Or in the case of John two or three). Still, making a great action film is an achievement.
