Why would we want a continuation?

"Oh, by the way, Sam eventually got home and saved his dad from his heart attack along the way... and what the hell, Martin Luther King Jr and Robert Kennedy too... totally negating the noble sacrifice he made by giving Al back his love."

It's called "too many endings syndrome".

By saying Sam never made it home, it drives the nail home of how much he sacrificed.

Leaving it open and you let a bunch of asshole fanfictioners and internet petitioners ruin the deal by eventually letting NBC cash in on a teevee movie where Doc Brown and Jesus show up and free Sam from leaping and it all ends on Sam's midwestern family farm at Christmas, sitting around a table with Stewart and Shatner opening presents with Sam's kids and Al's grandkids... and Ziggy gets the body of the girl robot from the end of fucking Bicentennial Man and she ends the whole deal on:

"God bless us everyone."

Screw that noise.

Sam made the choice, no loopholesies, no take-backs. They cheapen everything.

I don't want Citizen Kane's last word to be "schwing".

It'd be a Duketastrophe.

Mike
