I think that is usually the argument when a movie is 'better' than the novel - it's a matter of pace....
Usually I tend to think a book is better than a movie, because the imagery on the screen is derived from the director's and cinematographer's visualisation - which may be quite different from your own when you rewad the novel. Hence you are disappointed.
