I think maybe Elijah Wood just irritates me. And another thing about X-Men was the casting, specifically with Wolverine and Cyclops. I'm pretty sure Wolverine isn't supposed to be 6'1'', and I'm also pretty sure Cyclops isn't supposed to be 4 years old. I'm also fairly sure both he and Storm are supposed to... y'know, talk. I could be wrong.
