Anyway:
I believe that Gertrude Steiney (Jennifer Lopez in "Jersey Girl") was at one point to be Joey Lauren Adams, but after Jen and Ben got together on the "Gigli" set, Mr. Affleck pushed for Ms. Lopez in the part.
As far as I know, the only idea that Kevin was gestating before "Clerks" was "Dogma" (and even then Dogma was way different, details can be found on the DVD). Depending on who you believe, "Chasing Amy" was based in part on Kevin's relationship with Joey Adams and some sort of flirtation with Gwen Turner and Rose Troche, who did "Go Fish" (that's some touchy shit though, so I don't think I'll go any further. They're plenty of places you could find stuff like that on the Internet) and "Mallrats" was intended as a big-budget remake of "Clerks".
