Right, so an SAT does not lie about your ability to absorb learning, but merely about your formal education, i.e. public school where you said discrimination could exist. So SAT's arn't bad for ability to learn which is one of the things you need for college. BTW I didn't do too bad on verbal, but I wasn't trying super hard on it; 710. And I agree with all of the things you said about picking it up outside of class.

: SATs are tests of what general language skills you've picked up and what general mathematical skills you've attained... it's more like a raw aptitude test than an actual test of knowledge.

: I did quite well on my SATs when I was a kid, hell I even aced the verbal part, but I can honestly tell you that I did well on that test not because of the shit I learned in school, more just stuff I learned from all the reading I did outside of school.

: The SATs are a good gauge of your raw ability to absorb learning from anywhere around you, not your more formal education.
