SATs are tests of what general language skills you've picked up and what general mathematical skills you've attained... it's more like a raw aptitude test than an actual test of knowledge.

I did quite well on my SATs when I was a kid, hell I even aced the verbal part, but I can honestly tell you that I did well on that test not because of the shit I learned in school, more just stuff I learned from all the reading I did outside of school.

The SATs are a good gauge of your raw ability to absorb learning from anywhere around you, not your more formal education.
