: Hey all! I have a question, maybe some of you comic fans can help me with:

Hiya I started reading Marvel when i was about 8 it was awesome. I got a ton of them handed down to me ..gave me about two years worth of reading material! So with that in mind, i think the best way to kick start your sons comic book reading would be to buy him a couple of the collections that Marvel are now printing. They are very reasonably priced (less than $10 a book) and they have 20 comics worth of stories each in them and an annual. They are called Essential Spiderman and they start off with early years, so the stories are appropriate for a child of that age. So far they have volumes 1 to 5 and you should be able to buy them on the internet. Here is a link to an english site where i buy mine: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/026-9158262-8669212
They should be readily available in the states also. It's a good time for a kid to be a Spiderman fan ..lots of merchandise floating around due to the film just coming out, just a bad time for parents wallets which is why i suggested Essential because they are so cheap...Kev Smiths Spiderman stories are pretty cool, but i don't think they are totally appropriate for an 8 year old ...but them from Kev's site now ..and put em away for a few years..would be a cool present for a teenager.

Hope this was helpful!
