The difference being that Smith made it pretty clear from the start that it would be an all-out dick-and-fart-o-rama, so casting is irrelevant, not to mention the fact that it was made clear that the above-mentioned cast members were not leads. When he was writing Jersey Girl he made comments like, "it's the best thing I've written", etc. giving it an air of legitimacy. Could this be the long-awaited return to Amy-esque gold? That was shat upon with this cast. He'll break his $30 million box office ceiling like he so desperately wants, but at what cost?
