Can anyone name an independent filmmaker that you could put in the same sentence with the words "$20 Million" and "Jennifer Lopez" that would not be accused of selling out his fan base? Does that mean that it's true? I think not.
Personally, (and mind you I speak for only myself, as I have absolutely no authority or interest in speaking for anyone else) given the option I would sell out as quickly as possible once the opportunity presented itself in a vain effort to ensure that I would be able do whatever I damn well pleased whenever I damn well pleased. But hey, that's just me.
I don't need to preach the works of god to the choir, so to speak, but near as I can tell we got two excellent indy flicks out of Kevin, one mediocre studio flick, and a decent philosophical comedy. Then, when he was done with all that he made the movie his audience had repeatedly asked for. I don't feel betrayed.
Hey Kevin, make the movies you want to make, I'm just along for the ride.
