I have been obsessing about this who Thor&Lori & Bartleby & Loki thing for a few weeks now.
Since I made the connection between Odin adn God played by Alanis/Bud Cort (the god who likes to where disguises and surprise people, the god who likes to play jokes, you know, god with a sense of humor), I have been wondering what the connection is -- Did Kevin Smith read The Mighty Thor when he was a teen?
Does anyone know?
There's other parallels as well: The theme of being sent to earth to live among humans until one is forgiven, the characters being used by a more destructive entity who would use them to destroy the universe and all creation, the jealousy between the characters based on a sense of being less favored in God's eyes, and stories taking place in several arenas including heaven, hell, hel, Aasgard, and earth.
If anyone has heard anything confirming this, I'd love to hear it.
If not, if anyone has any idea of another way I could get this question answered, I'd love to know that too.
