Just saw a story about 3 college students burning a gay alliance flag on campus. One of the sophomore's names - Kevin Smith.
Of course, not this Kevin Smith, this is a different Kevin Smith.
What a great thing to have a common name, eh?
... but it does raise a question - undoubtedly, there will be the uninformed who will have heard about some guy named "Kevin Smith" who directs movies and is homophobic... and, probably, there will be some talk about some kids engaging in homophobic activities on campus...
... and of course, there are always stories about Kevin Smith being on campus talking to students. Just his luck, the one of the three who had the passkey to get in was, of course Kevin Smith, the scholar, not the director.
For all the screwed up rumors and urban legends that come about, there's always some grain of truth. Some story gets twisted and out of control, and before you know it, ... well, you hear stories about Richard Gere and gerbils.
I only bring it up because there may be more talk about Kevin being homophobic, and I think it's good to get the word out that there's another guy with the same name who is the true homophobic asshole. Here's hoping people don't confuse the two.
