In truth that is exactly what it is. I'd go so far as to say none of us(and probably all of us put together) even know as many people as were taken from us today. As sick as it sounds the best we can do is try to lead something like a normal life. The carnage is far beyond our conception. Life and security have forever been altered, and if people don't deal with it in some small manners then they will be crushed under it. Safety and secrity have never been more than our illusion, but today it's a lot harder to keep that illusion up.
