It's been a while, and I thought it took longer to get to Syracuse. It's a decent-sized city, yes. And Ithaca IS cosmopolitain, regardless of what's surrounding it. And yes, it's definitely because it's a college town. I'm currently in the process of relocating from central NJ to Troy, NY, which is another college town. They're just so much more INTERESTING than your standard towns, they really are. Ithaca's that much worse, because it's got an Ivy league (Cornell) and a very decent private college (Ithaca). Ithaca College is quite the hippy school, and it's got incredible music and theatre programs, which only adds to the culture-steeping of the town.
God, I miss it, I really do.
Why don't I move there, instead of to Troy, then? Simple. Troy is easy to get back to central NJ from. Ithaca isn't. But I'm still going to head back, to see Kevin. It's really just an excuse to visit, though. One more thing for me to be grateful to Kev for... ;-)
