Not much has been said abotu Chris Rock's character. I think the writing was funny... and I know why Smith did it, but I just disliked the character. I thought it was a little too over-the-edge. As much as I hate to admit it, Ebert was write. During that scene their was just a tense quiteness in the audience... no one really knew how to react.
It also, really wasn't the writing, because if you break it down, it was really funny. However, the way Rock did it was too over-the-top. He should have toned down.
That, however, didn't make my thoughts of the movie go down at all. I loved it, and thought it is only bettered by Clerks.
