Also, it could be possible that Dogma did take place, even in the world its being mentioned in. The actors could simply have an uncanny resemblance to the characters, or be used to "portray" the version of Dogma we saw, while still happening in Jay & SB's world. In other words, same actors, different characters- similar to Dusk till Dawn where Cheech plays 3 completely unrelated characters.

The other alternative is that "Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back" doesn't exist, but I'd rather not accept that. Even though scenes such as the lightsaber duel couldn't have really taken place using normal props, I can suspend my belieif enough for 95% of the entire movie to "exist."

The last alternative is for seperate sub universes of movies. Similar to Disney's approach, where Jungle Book has its own reality, Talespin has an alternate reality based off Junglebook, and other respective movies have realities where sequels or TV spinoffs do or do not exist. Or anime OAVs, movies, and series which use an alternative continuity from the main original story. Each movie may simply take place in a larger web of conceivable realities, each seperate yet the same.
