I have the screenplay (written in prose format as opposed to standard screenplay format) and the scene is in there, and in at least one of my Kubrick bios it's mentioned how Adam Baldwin was upset when he saw the film and the scene was cut.
Also in the script is an extended version of the scene in the helicoptor when the guy is shooting at the Vietnemese on the ground. There's a bit where they have a couple suspected Vietcong with them in the coptor and they are thrown out to their deaths.
