- it's quite powerfully written too, cutting back and forth between Joker in Vietnam and Joker as a child playing war games and ending with him being riddled with bullets. There's also a coda with his funeral.
I don't know if any of that was shot though, but the decapitation supposedly was.
The script also lacks Gustav Hasford's name as a screenwriter. He only got credit after he threatened legal action.

: ...where Joker dies (physically) towards the end? same friend mentioned this from the same book. apparently the film would begin some time after Joker's death and then go back to the start of training.
