Well, I'm glad your friend quit over that commercial, & I do sincerely hope they're done for good. And it's not like I invite people to smoke around me. I also don't think people have the right to make others put up with their habit. But my beef is this. I don't think these ads are a deturant, like Chuz Boy pointed out. People will always smoke, like the guy in Clerks that says "We all gotta die sometime". I hate the fact that my daughter may someday try smoking, but I hate even more that these ads are put out where she can see them, and she's hitting the age where they could cause her to get scared, have nightmares, come crawling into my bed at night when the wife & I are getting...um, what I guess I mean is that these ads are going too far, even if they are doing good. It's like the catholic church/inquisition/crusades/indulgences thing. Yeah, they were supposedly doing a "good thing", but it wasn't very good. Maybe I see this all wrong, but I don't think so.
