Studios want money. They WANT MONEY. While Miramax seems to be more oriented with what the director wants or whatever, they WANT to make money. American Pie 2, which you've dubbed brain dead, will make more than TWICE as much money opening weekend than you ever will in your entire life. Think about it.
What's furthmore, is it's not "bain-dead." Granted, I haven't seen it, but the first one wasn't brain dead. At least, I didn't think so.
Just grow the fuck up. To label everyone who watches MTV a moron is like labeling everyone who watches BET a "GANGSTA" or labeling everyone who watches Comedy Central a perpetually stoned college student.
Wake the fuck up and give things a chance. Stop expecting Citizen Cane when you walk into a movie advertising a scene where someone fucks a pie. You'll enjoy movies a lot more.
