The Bulger case was what sparked the idea in Vinnie's head... but it's bit too close to home for me to gloat about being up to speed on it. What happened to that young boy happened very close to where I was brought up and where I attended college... I was even interviewed about it (as was EVERYBODY... literally) before they found the rat-bastards that did it...
But it is worth noting that it only gave Vince the idea it didn't influence the actual story told in ABP.
