I think he just gives people the benefit of the doubt and assumes that normal well-adjusted people wouldn't equate such a decision with tragedy. I mean let's be honest, anyone who feels that the loss of a message board is a "traumatic experience" is someone who (and I say this with all possible respect) is a fucking reject of the highest order. Ties aren't being forcibly severed. It's just a matter of recongealing your group onto another of the million message boards out there.
