I completely agree with your feelings on 'X-Men'. I was very surprised by how good the film was. It walked that fine line between serious and cheesy while never going either way. And for as much as Fox screwed the production by pushing the release date up six months(!) I really thought Bryan Singer did a fantastic job. You could tell that some of the effects looked a bit rushed but it never bothered me. Hopefully they can make more and keep expanding the stories and let Bryan Singer do his magic without a rushed production.
