CD burners have just become popular, or at least affordable in the last few years. But I honestly can't remember the last time I bought a cassette.
I am not saying that I think VHS will be obsolete anytime soon, but I do believe it will happen, so why work on your video collection when you can start working on your DVD collection?
For me, just the extras in "Chasing Amy", and "Ghostbusters" is worth the cost of the player.
: I don't think DVD's will ever totally replace tapes (let's face it, people have invested TOO MUCH in VHS tapes to give up on them. Also, you can record. Not to mention home movies!). I'd love to get a DVD player on the side, but let's face it, most people wouldn't rather spend $150 or whatever on new VHS's than one DVD player. No one will get a DVD and the 4 special edition DVDs AND the Clerks: TCS DVD. Most people don't have that kind of money, even if they are huge fans.
