: ...but what do YOU guys really THINK of the missing opening to "Mallrats?"
: It's almost like you've taken the fifth on it...

I personaly liked it the first time I saw it, mainly because it was something new that I hadn't seen before. But after seeing it a few times and applying it to the film I felt they made a good move by changing the opening. They say because of the length of it, and you don't want a comedy like Mallrats running 2 hours and 15 minutes, which I totally agree with.

But if they would have kept it, I personaly would have gotten bored with the movie pretty soon. It wasn't horrible, it just wasn't great. The only thing I really liked about the deleted opening was the Brodie and T.S. shot at the Svennings house.

: What was so costly? Was it the choreography and the cuing of the extras (to say nothing of the main stars) or was it just the damned crain you used?

Both of the things you mentioned, the cost of film, the time in which they shot it, which was probably a week or more, paying the cast, crew, blah blah all that stuff.

: What DID you use to shoot that with?

I think it was 16 something or other, someone can give you a better answer.

: ...and who was that playing The Governor?
: Her comic-timing was spot-on as far as I could see.

Don't know her name, but she acted very well, I agree.

: Actually, I think that whole sequence was pretty funny...what was the nature of that test-audience you showed it to?

I believe they said in the commentary they said the first test audiance was at the dragon con, but like they said in the commentary, there were more than 1 test screening, they liked the flick, just didn't dig the opening.
