Most of the unknown talent Kevin has found has been through casting calls.

Brian O'Halloran and Jeff Anderson were recruited from a local playhouse I believe. On Mallrats they had a casting call which netted Jason Lee, Ben Affleck, Joey Adams and a few others. Amy was cast from the Mallrats group, with the exception of Dwight Ewell who came via Joey Adams. And Dogma was done mostly by people wanting to work with Kevin and/or being offered parts.

The bit parts are often Kevin's friends and family.
