First of all...the reason we're all here (although I question why some of the negative nellies show up here except to make themselves feel important at Vincent's expense) is that we admire the VA films and Kevin and Scott's movie-making talents. So, if they cut the first 20 minutes, that's all part of THEM making the picture. I love the fact that Kevin writes 140 page scripts, trimming them down through multiple drafts and ultimately leaving a wake of cut-scene carnage on the floor before it makes it to theatres. It's all part of the VA creative process. The wonderfull thing is that we can see every little edited-out snip-it on the DVD and get the bigger picture. I love that. It adds so much depth to something as simple as a comedy set in a fucking mall (pardon my potty-mouth).

And besides, while I thought the whole assination plot was great, I only wish they had shot (and then cut) the original opening, the game show. I thought that part of the script was a bit more classic-Smith-style dialogue. Some one already made Animal House AND Porky's, albeit not a smart version of Porky's, but... That said, Chasing Amy's return to Indie status is proof that Mallrats did not turn out the way they wanted it, for a number of reasons.

Would John or Jerry or Martin or Francis or Quentin have shot/edited the films differently? Sure, so would I if I'd been in their shoes. But that wouldn't have been Mallrats would it? It's that bit of personality that makes some filmmakers stand out and have adoring masses flocking to their boards and having all of their personal possesions autographed by said film guru.

Try using a more Zen approach to watching the deleted scenes: BE HERE NOW. The deleted scenes are in the past, my son, but why must you dwell there too? Go out and quote, young master, quote the Jersey Saga for all you're worth.

End dont right back two tell me i spelled shit wrongly -I don't kare. Snoontchins.
