Isn't it possible that while Jay and Silent Bob used to hang out at the mall, and while they get insulted by Randal, the movie of Mallrats is still the story Holden Told? If I write a screnplay about my friends and I hanging out at a mall, and we used to actually do so, does that make the screenplay fact?
Couldn't Mallrats simply be an exaggeration of something that happened, hence the change in the characters?
