David Klein David Klein, a native Idahoan, began his studies at the University of Idaho, studying cinematography and fine art photography before traveling on to the Vancouver Film School in British Columbia. Destiny landed him in the same class as future partners Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier. The trio stuck together after graduation, finding themselves in Smith's home state of New Jersey to shoot their no-budget phenomenon, Clerks. After that success, they braved a Minnesota winter to shoot Mallrats and a year later he returned to New Jersey for their third and most successful collaboration, Chasing Amy. Dave returned to New Jersey in the summer of 1997 to lens the micro-budget View Askew feature, VULGAR. Since VULGAR wrapped, Klein has gone on to lens various projects, mainly features: Eyes To Heaven, a black and white, silent film styled after The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. When, a dramatic comedy about actresses in New York City; Carlo's Wake, a movie that took comedy into a wake; Wish You Were Dead, and shortly after he returned to his low budget roots for the comedy about life with roommates, Roomies. Dave has also shot commercial spots for DIET COKE, MTV and a series of ads for the BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF AMERICA which received top awards from the organization. |
