: Is Titanic not the most overated film of the year? Granted, it's a good movie, but doesn't come anywhere close to being a great movie. Shit, every single other film nominated for best picture is ten times better than Titanic (Full Monty included). This flick is NOT the best film of the year in my opinon. I could go into details why, but then again, I could go on forever (eg. the script was so awful I could probably create an entire post just wrecking every single line, not to mention the one-dimensional characters and mediocre acting). Anyone agree?

: Oh yeah, congrats to Matt, Ben, and Robin, as well as Jason and Kevin. All you guys deserve your success (no, really, I mean it).
I actually disagree here. I was totally against the Titanic at first- thought it would be the stupidest movie ever. I'm a historian/archivist and thought the movie would be inaccurate and I disliked Leonardo..BUT...when I saw it I don't know what happened. I mean it doesn't have this deep meaning but there is just something about it. It is an epic, sort of like Gone With The Wind is an epic movie. I was mesmerized by the movie- just the pure horror that 1500 people died was what got to me, more than the love story between Leo and Kate. I even liked the older Rose and I previously thought she only got the SAG award out of pity. I don't know. Maybe they flash subconscious messages in the film but I have to say I'd see it again on the big screen.
