If I remember correctly, Kevin said (according to his comentary on the "Clerks" special edition laser disc) that he was just telling Mewes to just do stuff in the window to make the scene more interesting. I remember fondly in that scene that Mewes gives the woman's matting call by wiggling his tongue back and forth between his index finger and middle finger. It was quite humorous, and my ex-girlfriend was rather displeased when I pointed it out. Ah fuck'er.
