I am writing this message at college. I woke up this morning and was bombarded with nothing but Oscars, Oscars, Oscars. The whole of British television was brimming with this ceremony that supposedly congratulates actors, directors and screenwriters on doing good jobs.
WRONG. I find it to be nothing but Hollywood back slapping and big budget movie advertising. I'm not slagging off James Cameron (he's a good director) I'm just slagging off the industry as a whole. I just really want to get this off my chest as now Hollywood, rather then taking in new and -shock horror!- ORIGINAL ideas, they spend X million on the sequel to some big budget bore fest which will win an award simply because they spent money on this ONE film that could feed Africa for five years. Or they rehash old ideas, pinch original ideas and ruin them in the name of profit (the plot of Fallen was used in an X-files episode or so I've been told) or steal TV shows and convert them into big budget crap.
I'd like to hear people's views on this one :-)
