: : During the Oscar's "Best Picture" announcement, the award went to the Producer of the flick.
: : Why not the exec. producer? What is this role vs. producer?
: : Wasn't Kevin the exec. producer on GWH and therefore entitled to some recognition on the big night?

: The executive producer has very little to do with the film usually- they often have a financial stake, or, in Kevin and Scott's case, they brought the script to Miramax. They really had nothing to do with the production, and thus don't deserve any awards from it.
: If they deserved any recognition, it should have come from Ben and Matt during their acceptance speeches since GOOD WILL HUNTING never would have been set up at Miramax had it not been for Kevin and Scott's intervention.
: I'm sure it was just an oversite on the boy's parts however, given the understandable excitment of the situation- Ben really did look like he was struggling there, and I'm sure they slapped themselves after they got off stage. Or at least, I hope they did...
